I got coffee with an acquaintance today, and he mentioned a story of a friend who was an artist. Back in high school, his friend participated in an annual art competition, but she never won any prizes. Then, during her senior year of high school, she was making an intricate ceramic sculpture, but the sculpture broke shortly before the deadline for submission. With no time to create anything else, she took some junk items and fused them together with clay. She won the prize for first place. I supppse this story says a lot about modern culture in general as well as modern art.
