Liberal belief of tolerance

OmegaKV
I was recently speaking on the phone with a liberal friend of mine from when I lived in New York. I told him that there doesn't seem to be as much of a concept of "weirdness" in New York as there is in other places, as in people don't look down on you as much if you are a little bit eccentric or out of the ordinary. He agreed with. He said that he thinks the reason is that the reason is that New York City is liberal, and since liberals are tolerant and accepting of "weird" people, such as transgenders. He said that unlike Christians, for example, liberals support people in living life the way they want to live it.

I agree with him. Most liberals have a distorted version of some facts, but the rank-and-file liberals in general believe that it is wrong to hurt something that isn't harming you. This is why most vegetarians are liberals. And they will even go out of their way to support people in affirming their decisions to accommodate those who are not harming others. Liberals want laws passed to prevent others from getting in the way of transgenders living life the way they want it. Christians, on the other hand, get upset at the idea of even lifting a finger to accommodate transgenders. Now they lack sufficient political power, so they claim that they just do not want to be forced into accommodating transgenders, but if they had more political power I am sure they would want to ban it.

There are a few examples of liberals attacking harmless people, anti-vaxxers for example. But the reason they attack them is because their version of the facts has been distorted so that they think of anti-vaxxers as being harmful. If they had a correct version of the facts they wouldn't attack them, because their core moral belief seems to be that you do not harm someone if they are harmless.

New York is a big city that has traditionally been "tolerant" in this way.  It is not typical.  Try dressing in a conservative way and walk around Silicon Valley or San Francisco.  People will look at you with revulsion.  These people have zero tolerance.
