Man is his worst enemy, the problem is with the heart

I chatted with a man from Texas today about religion and Christianity. I asked him who are our enemies. He replied

First off, we are our own worst enemies as we operate from a broken, sinful mindset until we accept Christ as our savior and begin the start of the regenerative/transformative process.

“The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?”
‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭17‬:‭9‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭7‬ ‭NIV‬‬

After that, we are battling against forces that are non-aligned with God and/or directly in opposition to God.  Evil and dark spiritual forces. As we talked about, not knowingly but clearly not aligned/motivated/pursuing Judeo-Christian ethics and values.

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭6‬:‭12‬ ‭NIV‬‬

I disagree with most of this.  And let me quote Jeremiah 17:9-10 for context:

The mind is more deceitful than anything else,
and incurable—who can understand it?
I, Yahweh, examine the mind,
I test the mind
to give to each according to his way,
according to what his actions deserve.

God is being most unChristian here, judging by actions, contradicting the first quote and Romans 8:7.

My struggle is against flesh and blood, against the average modern scum, not against the rulers.

From his perspective it’s for the average person where man is wicked by nature, and through Christ and transformation of the heart he can be saved. From the Christian world view, it’s certainly the case for the average man today. I e man’s heart is wicked and needs religion

Can a cockroach's heart be transformed through Christ?  What is the difference between modern people and cockroaches?  Modern people are hopelessly stupid and were raised with no sense of morality.
