Martial Arts tuition

Allen
It looks like I might be teaching some local teenagers general fighting skills. They want to know some judo and I could teach them some boxing, self-defence and miscellaneous stuff. Any other ideas?

That seems great. Boxing and judo is quite good. I like weapons like knife, staff, one handed stick, etc. If you know them

It only just now that I thought to look at basic boxing skills videos, and it looks like without having had any formal boxing training and after giving a couple of lessons myself over the past two weeks, I pretty much nailed it. Both boxing and judo consist of very few techniques and principles, with the rest being practice. I don't know how people make it so complex or why I used to be so confused about things. I'm starting to see some things much more clearly now.

Yeah combat is simple but extremely uncertain. I came out of the kungfu background. My former teach said if he doesn't teach fancy moves and forms, the people will get bored and leave.

He and I don't coincide in most of our opinion on the direction to take the MA

The guy probably has a point in that if you don't invent complex issues there is not a lot to talk about. In boxing you just need to teach, what, 4 punches, how to move, how to guard, how to further train and then trainers can find their own way. That is not a lot of work.

Here is another training session with me and some of the guys where we go through a few of the techniques we are learning. The video ended up being mainly self-defence techniques.
