Modern scum is redoing my work

There is a charismatic salesman programmer scum at work who keeps redoing projects that I am actively working on, and then putting pretty documentation in his, and adding continuous integration icons. Like, why does he have to do the exact same thing I am doing? I think he is doing this shit to try to demonstrate that he is a better software guy than me, because he can add these gay continuous integration icons to his code. He follows the "industry practices" so that means he is better at software.

What should I do? I sent him an email telling him I would interface his code into mine, hoping this would cool down whatever competitive drive is in him (not that I am afraid that he will do a better job than me, but I do fear that his work will go further than mine because as a charismatic scum he will better be able to promote his work). I looked at his code and it is ok, although he did overcomplicate the protocol for communicating with his software (mine just uses comma separated ascii for the 2 parameters, but his was some binary format with a bunch of unnecessary and redundant parameters).
