Typically tools are open source.  And since mainstream tools are unusable, the place for decent programmers to start is open source tools.

Open source software developers are just as bad or worse than closed source software developers. They make their source code open source so that their code can be seen, which is a sign that they take more pride in how their code looks than how it functions. Open source advocates are also politically-minded (i.e. leftist) people, because open source creates an environment where charismatic and politically-minded people thrive. When code can be freely copied and re-branded, then only politics and promotion determine success.
