I wasn't referring to anything Judeo-Christian, the origins of these religions are not European. The swastika on the other hand is an example of benign and intelligent symbolism that got distorted and demonized.

While the Trinity itself is probably not prehistoric, its origins clearly are, from pre-Christian and pre-civilization times, in other words, from hunter-gatherers. The oldest known triskelions are said to be the ones on the Neolithic monument Newgrange.





The meaning of the Trinity symbol is the following:

Father = source or cause or as chaos theory says "initial conditions"

Son = outcome or effect or the resulting event

Holy Spirit = the perpetual motion behind the whole world, or the constant change, or simply put: energy

These three things together are God aka Nature, or as I call it the entire infinite and eternal world.

 The Trinity originates from the Council of Nicaea.

It's easy to see which came first and what the original meaning is.

In fact, the Irish shamrock ☘️ is a symbol used for the same purpose (just like the four leaf clover 🍀 is also used as a luck symbol, just like the swastika, another eternity symbol).

There are various precursors for finding the number three significant, but the trinity concept seems to have come mostly from the Father, Son and Holy Spirit mentioned in the gospels as well as the risen Jesus and Holy Spirit mentioned in Acts. As far as understanding the eternal God as a trinity, I don't see any point in it. We can understand Jesus as some form on incarnation of God, not worry about whether God is a trinity or not and leave it at that.
