Thoughts on Kansas City

I visited Kansas City last weekend.  It is a small city, very functional but quite boring.  There is a strong emphasis on service which means that things work, but that a restaurant is judged for service, not for its food.  And this shows, the food is poor.

My wife had to admit that Kansas City solved all her issues with Dallas, but that she still preferred Dallas because it is a major city offering food and shopping that cannot be found in a small city.  I agree.  The ideal is to live outside of a major city.  Small cities may have Whole Foods, but that isn't enough.  I want good Korean barbecue too.  A foreign wife will almost certainly prefer a big city where she can find whatever she misses from home, which can't be found in a small city.

So now the choice is completely narrowed down.  I want a top-ten city that has a conservative Mennonite church within an hour drive.  And there are exactly two: Dallas and Philadelphia.  Next trip is to Philadelphia.
