Torah alone, Gospel alone, Quran alone? What about God alone?

TryingToFollowTheMessiah
I was "religious", following sects that are attributing their false doctrines to the Quran, because i didn't know better. I was "salafi", extreme orthodox, you can compare them with the people from "neighteru karta". Why, because i wasn't reading, i was following what people were saying, i wasn't reading the book, but if i was i was reading it with the influence of those sectarian doctrines.

Then one day, a miracle happened. I started reading the Quran more, and i came across the Quranites, you can compare them with Karaites, they try to uphold the Quran alone, without any other sources, because the word of God is perfect, fully detailed. So i started following the people who are being called Quranites, but most of them don't like to call themselves Quranites, i didn't either. So i started reading the Quran more and more.

Until i found out, that i shouldn't listen to what people say anymore if it comes to worshipping God, except Hes Word alone. So i started reading the Quran more and more, until i started reading about the Torah, and the Gospel, and the Psalms, and how God told me to believe in them etc. So i started reading the Bible, because of a miracle again. I started reading the Gospel, the Psalms and the Torah in a translation. Now i am also trying to learn Arabic, Aramaic and Hebrew. And i am still learning.

The point is, that we should submit to God alone. We should take God as a guide. He sent down all books in the Tanakh that were written after the Torah. So why can't He sent the Gospel, and the Messiah? So why can't He sent the Quran, to warn against what the "catholics" are doing etc.? God alone should be our motto. We should try to follow all words of God. God alone we should try to serve.

I am very glad that you have come to visit us from reddit.  I hope you can attend one of our Old Testament readings.  But you should know that all of us come from an atheistic background.  You come from a Muslim background.  I think that is great and we could learn from each other, but I am warning you about this so that you don't get offended by our different perspective.  We would absolutely welcome Christians or Muslims into our group as long as they can tolerate very different perspectives.  If you spend some time reading this forum, you will see what I mean.

This group is not meant for the masses.  It is meant for those with the intelligence to understand scripture for themselves.  In my case, I understand scripture based on my background in science and history.  For me, God is basically the forces of nature and "God's will" is a personified way of explaining what will actually work in the real world in the long run.  But this perspective doesn't diminish the importance of "God's will" at all, in fact it is the only thing that ultimately matters.

The 3 scriptures that we have in the West represent 3 approaches to following "God's will", in other words to doing what is right.  By 3 approaches, I mean 3 paths.  The Old Testament is the path of teaching/understanding.  The New Testament is the path of faith.  The Quran is the path of submission.  Each path is best for different people.  We focus on the Old Testament, but we respect and support the other paths.

In the story of Adam and Eve, Eve listens to a serpent and then Adam listens to Eve.  So the first sin is actually listening others without critically thinking for oneself.  We support thought, but thought based on knowledge.  We consider science and history to be helpful for proper interpretation of scripture.  Saying "God alone" should include the results of God's actions, which basically means science and history.  But we shouldn't listen uncritically to what others say, whether in the Talmud, Paul's letters, Hadiths, or today's popular opinions.

The Koran is conceptually superior because it claims to be the directly transcribed Word of God while the Bible is just hearsay.

There is no way to verify this claim.  Obviously Muhammad felt that he was receiving God's word, but there is no way to independently verify this.  We do know that the Quran is valid because it has been proven in history to produce sound cultures, but the same can be said of the other scriptures.  Here is a book I recommend for you:

That's your own opinion. But the Quran clearly told us to believe in the previous Scriptures.

You can't blame the Book for what people practise in the name of the Book.

How can you blame the Torah for what the Pharasees did? While Jesus, the son of Mary, the Messiah fulfilled the Torah?

Maybe 1+ Billion people follow false sectarian doctrines and claim to be following the Quran. I saw just a small elite, i didn't see more then 10 in my life yet, that uphold the Torah, the Psalms, the Gospel and the Quran alltogether. Because remember, the gate is small! And yeah, i can't help it, that people feel comfortable with following their environment, but i also see it as a miracle, but in the end, it's really written clearly in the Quran, that we also should uphold the Gospel, the Psalms and the Torah.

Remember when we learn, in the Gospel, we do not live on bread alone, but with every word of God.

It's hard, if you don't want, to test the Scripture, because God does sent Messengers and Prophets. It isn't as black and white as you think it is.
